Wings3D is a mesh subdivision modeller, inspired by similar comercial products Nendo and Mirai from Izware. It is mantained by Bjorn Gustavsson, Dan Gudmundsson, and other developers. It doesn't have animation features, and the rendering system is quite basic, yet it has a very short learning curve and can produce high quality modeling(which can be rendered or animated with other software packages like Blender or POVray). The interface is very minimal, thanks to the use of contextual menus for each of its 4 editing modes(vertex, edge, face and object).

Wings3D is written in Erlang, a language known for its focus on concurrent programming.
