Distributed Interactive Virtual Environment
From ArtSoftware
The Distributed Interactive Virtual Environment (or DIVE in short) is the name of a CVE software that was actively developed between 1991 and the early 2000s. DIVE realizes an architecture and a programming toolkit for the implementation and deployment of wide-area, Internet-based multi-user virtual environments. The platform is designed to scale to both a large number of simultaneous participants and a large number of objects populating the environments, while ensuring maximum interaction at each site. One of the key features of the system is the integration of a scripting language (Tcl) so as to allow rapid prototyping of CVE applications.
